You can’t take the sky from me – Mal’s Song

Rajongók által készített fanvideókból nagyjából bármihez kapcsolódóan annyi van, hogy nem csak a Dunát, hanem bármelyik másik folyót is meg lehetne velük rekeszteni. Ráadásul ezen videók minősége legtöbbször nagyon amatőr, és ezt nem oltásilag mondom, ez is egy szakma, amit meg kell tanulni, és még érzék is kell hozzá bőven. Viszont az el kell ismernem, hogy néha zeneileg ők is belenyúlnak a jóba, és az alábbi Firefly/Serenity anyaggal is ez a helyzet. Az azóta feloszlott Escape Key zenekar Shadowbeast című lemezén megjelent „Mal’s Song” című daláról van szó, ami a Firefly már alapból zseniális főcímdalának továbbgondolása. A dalnak létezik egy több hangszert felvonultató stúdióverziója is a Vixy & Tony (az Escape Key-ből Michelle Dockrey és Tony Fabris zenész) nevű, filkzenét (népies jellegű dalok fantasy/geek témákkal) játszó formáció előadásában (az albumuk címe Thirteen), de szerintem ez az élő felvétel hangulatilag sokkal jobban sikerült.

A videó megnézése előtt egyébként abszolút nem ismertem sem a dalt, sem a stílust, de először meghallva nem kicsit ültem le tőle. Nem csak a Firefly-rajongásom miatt, de kábé rögtön a mindenkori kedvenceim közé katapultálta magát, az említett albumokon található többi társával együtt. Mondanám, hogy a populáris zenéktől való különbözése miatt valószínűleg az érettebb gondolkodású rétegnek fog tetszeni, de az olyan nagyképű lenne, szóval inkább csak annyit, hogy aki szerint nem zseniális, annak egyszerűen nincs zenei ízlése. És éretlen (na tessék, csak kijött).
